CHRISTINE'S BLOG
Welcome! I love to write, and I love sharing what I write with my readers. I vary my style as much as I can-posting events, creative non-fiction, prose and poetry and the occasional video. Enjoy!

Warrior Within:
There is a warrior
Within everyone
Arising
When we least expect it to
There is a warrior
Within everyone
It arises
On those days
you feel despair
And just want to
Throw your hands
Up in the air
And say
Why should I care
There is a warrior
Within everyone
Telling you to be strong
And hold your head up high
Even when all you feel
Is defeat
And want to cry
There is a warrior
Within everyone
Arising
When we least expect it to
It is the warrior within
That makes you
Who you are today.
Within everyone
Arising
When we least expect it to
There is a warrior
Within everyone
It arises
On those days
you feel despair
And just want to
Throw your hands
Up in the air
And say
Why should I care
There is a warrior
Within everyone
Telling you to be strong
And hold your head up high
Even when all you feel
Is defeat
And want to cry
There is a warrior
Within everyone
Arising
When we least expect it to
It is the warrior within
That makes you
Who you are today.

Call Me Old Fashioned
Call me
Old fashioned
Call me
What you will
But I have an opinion
On the fashions
Of today
I do not like
Those pants
That guys wear so low
Where their butts
Are hanging out
And you can see
Those multi colored
Underwear
Call me
Old fashioned
Call me prude
Call me what you will
I don't like
The fashions
That are out there
Today
That girls feel
They can wear
Tights
And call them pants
Or what I remember
As clearly lingerie
Is now worn
Where everyone
Can see it
Call me old fashioned
Call me a prude
Call me what you will
But I have an opinion
On the fashions of today
I do not like them
But then again
Who am I
I am not a fashion expert
I am just a 37 year old woman
Who remembers
The good old days
When your skin
Was covered up, and
Your underwear
Stayed hidden
Call me old fashioned
Call me a prude
Call me what
You will
I do not like
The fashions of today

Let Me Remember
Let me remember
The times
I have walked in good faith
And held my head up high
Let me remember
The times
That I persevered
And fought to overcome
Even when the obstacles
Seemed too high
Let me remember
The times
That I smiled
Instead of cried
And let me walk
Once more
With purpose
Instead of crying
And looking down
Upon myself
And the world around me
The times
I have walked in good faith
And held my head up high
Let me remember
The times
That I persevered
And fought to overcome
Even when the obstacles
Seemed too high
Let me remember
The times
That I smiled
Instead of cried
And let me walk
Once more
With purpose
Instead of crying
And looking down
Upon myself
And the world around me

I am Here: By: Christine McFarlane
When you think
That you are walking
Down the path of life alone
I want you to know
That I have been there
And know what it is like
For you to feel that way
When you think
That you are walking
Down the path of life alone
And there is no one there
To dry your tears
I want you to know
That I am here
When you think
That you are walking
Down the path of life alone
And no one is listening
I want you to know
That I am here
Listening
Just give me
A call
When you think
That you are walking
Down the path of life alone
And there is no one that cares
I want you to know
That I care very much
And love you with all my heart
I am here
(for my niece)
That you are walking
Down the path of life alone
I want you to know
That I have been there
And know what it is like
For you to feel that way
When you think
That you are walking
Down the path of life alone
And there is no one there
To dry your tears
I want you to know
That I am here
When you think
That you are walking
Down the path of life alone
And no one is listening
I want you to know

That I care very much
And love you with all my heart
I am here

Out of the Shadows
By: Christine McFarlane
I once lived
In the shadows
of depression
Where fear
And panic ruled
I would go about
My days
Scared to lift my head
Or look at people
In the eyes
I once lived
In the shadows
of depression
Where
The tears were plentiful
And my energy low
It took every ounce
To even care about myself
And the world
Around me
I once lived
In the shadows
Of depression
Where fear
And panic ruled
But I stand here
Today
With more conviction
Than ever
And know within
That if I can make it
You can make it too
in the shadows
Of depression
Where fear
And panic ruled
But today
I stand here
And my heart
Is lighter
I can smile
I can laugh
And joke around too
All because
Of you
( for those who have supported me through my bad times and my good times I couldn’t have done it without you. Chi Miigwetch)

A Primal Scream
Primal Scream....
By: Christine McFarlane
A primal scream
Threatens to
Erupt within
As my feelings
Boil to the point
Of exploding
As I recall
The tears wept
And the sadness
I experienced
When you left this world
Behind
It feels like
No one really understands
The depth
Of how much I miss you
And how I wish
That you were still here
By my side
A primal scream
Threatens to
Erupt within
As I recall
The moments
We spent together
Moments of silent understanding
Moments of laughter
And deep talks
A primal scream
Erupts within
Threatening to bring
About the tears
And sadness
I thought
Would have subsided
With time
I miss you as much
As the day
You left this world behind.
